Spook provided the cat with a human salt lick yesterday. She likes him better than anyone else, which is ridiculous as we all dole out love and he doles out grumpiness in large doses. She hardly ever ambushes him and spent ages grooming him yesterday.
We had a lazy morning today, watching Narnia 2. We should have gone up the hill as, although dull in Wanaka, it was apparently lovely up there. We went over to Queenstown instead to get my free electric blanket. I use my Flybuys loyalty card at the supermarket and I finally raised enough points to buy something. I chose the blanket as Robbi and Roddy will be here on Friday and they are going to need it after life in the balmy north. The funny thing about the blanket is that I could have bought one in the supermarket for $21.99, but my free voucher has to be used at a specific retailers, the nearest of which is in Queenstown. So it cost me about $30 in fuel to go there. We only had until the 17th July to get it too. In order to justify this journey, I bought a cheap extention so that we could plug the blanket in, a pair of trousers for Spooks work and coffee and cake. Meg saw a jacket she desperately wants and put a $40 deposit on it and now has 10 weeks to raise the other $140. She is going to her shop of work choice tomorrow and finally HAS to get up the courage to ask for a job as she now needs the money. So the free blanket actually cost me £80 and cost Meg $189. At least one more Sinclair will be warm.
Tomorrow Finn and I will go up to Cardrona with a packed lunch. But first, I have to give Meg some moral support in asking for a job. I can demonstrate particular empathy, having so recently had to do the same thing. At least she doesn't share my issue of feeling like a teenager with wrinkles.
