An awful good day was had by us all. Robbie went for her fast walk, and I went for a run over Mt Iron. This was a bit of an effort on my behalf, having not run for a while. Then we had coffee outside in the sun. Hugh Mcphee phoned and said he and his partner Donna, were coming over the hill and did Spook fancy going out for a beer. He was very taken aback to find the Gamekeeper from Braeroy was here. Likewise, the Gamekeeper was surprised and delighted to see Hugh arrive with his very homely number plate.
Hugh and Donna went for lunch while we went for the dip at Oakridge, which we had promised the kids. It was so good, and we need to find a way to get hot pools into Fort William. As a mountain resort, it needs to get some resort type stuff going on. We need to overcome the belief that rain and midges stop us from having these things. Sitting in the pool, with the sun on my face and my eyes shut, it was more like being in the Med. in July, than The Southern Hemisphere in......July. Then the boys went to the boozer, and the girls came home for a blether and coffee (so divisive!!). Donna is a lovely woman and more to the point, when she phoned Hugh and said it was time to go back over the hill, Hugh put the glass of whisky down and prepared to go back over the hill. And this, despite the great craic they were having, catching up on lot's of important people and issues back home. They all enjoyed it, but Roddy in particular, and none of them were really ready to come home.
After dinner, the children all played together and left the adults in peace. Which topped off the day very nicely.
greatful for:
Megan, having actually earned enough money already, to buy her jacket in Queenstown, but offering instead to go and buy Finns for him, as his hasnt been put aside, and hers is safe for another 3 months.
Hugh turning up our drive with 'that' number plate, and delighting us all.
