I may have to go back to skis to remind myself that I am not completely useless on a ski slope. I seem to be getting worse on the board, despite two exits from the chair without squealing and falling off. I was going along a track similar to the one in the photo of Finn and Sam in the distance, and as soon as a couple of boarders passed me and shot off the edge, I got all wobbly and had to take off my board and walk. I felt like I was on a slidy tray with no control. Something akin to rigamortis sets in and I have only two positions - bolt upright or on my butt.
Finn rode with Sam and we met Shannon, Steve and the rest of the family for coffee.
We started the day by getting Meg to her Chocolate gift shop. She gave a brave smile and went off to ask for a job. It wasn't long before she came out and gave us a double thumbs up. The woman was waiting for her to come back in after an early enquiry and wants her to start on Saturday - 10am to 6pm! A trial to start and then hopes she will come in a couple of days after school 3.30 to 6pm. She sells gifts (has an online gift service as well as the shop) and makes her own hot chocolate with real chocolate and chilli. Meg will be helping with the chocolate and clearing up. It is a lovely environment and lady and Meg is very excited.
We had dinner at Rob and Stacey's tonight and they asked Meg to baby sit on Saturday night. They have a very sensible 13yr old boy, but reckon he needs back up to look after the wee brother and sister so are paying Meg to do so. this will be straight after her shop job. These are longer work hours than I do!! Finn has his jaw gaping as he wonders what on earth he can do to make some bucks. It is not easy to be 2yrs younger. He will need to look for another commercial, but the competition for redheads is much keener here, so he may have to find another selling point.
Spook has poo coming out of his ears as the town fills up with people again. He's taken to calling visitors dirty names and getting very resentful of 'incomers'. I worry that he thinks I go to the toilet too much.
grateful for:
a strong bladder
a resourceful and confident daughter
the friendship of Sams family which Finn has brought to us
a patient and resilient husband
pickled beef, reared by Rob
