Today was about final preparations and getting dinner ready, scones made etc for The Sinclairs arrival. The children are getting 'tolerance pay' of $10 a week. Since hearing of this, they have been more than civil to each other. I went into the bank and put the money in their accounts and when I came out, they were fighting over the front seat of the car! It was not pleasant and I stormed out the car and hid round the corner to pretend I had gone to take the money out (I would have if I could). The tolerance levels improved again for fear of the financial disaster! I know it is bad, but it works. They are nice to everyone else and then rude to each other. It is just a bad habit. And I know they do like each other. I think it is well worth $20 a week.
They played beautifully while waiting for their friends to arrive and then split up and Meg moved on to creative pursuits. Finn discovered how to make videos on the computer and the computer became his companion for much of the afternoon. I wish I could post his creation on the blog, but my server would blow up. It was a bit like a Charlie Chaplin movie. He played the good character and the bad character and appeared on screen from all different directions. There was a few karate moves and boxing matches and someone off screen who kept grabbing him. I know with ski passes and an extreme Kiwi life outside, we should have been doing something a bit more active, but it was a good day.
The Sinclairs arrived too late for dinner or scones, but chaos descended in a flurry of children, guinea pig and cat. Meg thought they were bringing a guinea pig and a hedgehog, but thankfully the guinea pig is called Hedgehog.
greatful for:
the guinea pig not being a hedgehog too.
funny kids.
