DEAR SPOOK, actually winter is not so bad when it's wet and you create a cocoon around you. There was a brief moment of loveliness when I was making a pudding for my forthcoming dinner with Emmy. It was just me, and Dougie Mclean crooning away in the corner. The fire was lit, Meg, Katie and Amy were at the gym and the boys were down the road. I think that lasted about 10 minutes and then it was a flurry of lifts, rush hour traffic, heavy rain, boys appearing from nowhere, until there were 7 children in the house and Emmy had to cook dinner while I did some more driving and disposed of a couple of girls. We finally got some space and ate wild venison fillet with a gorgonzola sauce. I don't think Emmy shot this one, but she knew someone who did. Really delicious. So it was eventually a nice Friday night with a wee glass of red.
Take a look at these living room colours as they will be disappearing soon. It will become echo-y but clean. Once the red velvet curtains are up it will be cosy.......soon as I work out how to thread the sewing machine.
I messed up the rugby date. It is on Sunday. I cleared the Saturday so that I could go, but have got to work on Sunday. I will become a victim of the volatile atmosphere at the hotel if I try to change it. All I can do now is hope for more torrential rain and a cancellation. Then they will not know I am a numpty.
I will tell you privately about a couple of friends of ours who went to a Salsa class tonight. Suffice to say - if they can do it, we can do it. I will book you in.
xxx
