DEAR SPOOK, there were 5 children poured off the school bus tonight. 3 of them were bound for the rugby training after tea. They were very excited and all kitted out and ready to go 30 mins early!!! It rained and rained (it does seem to do that quite a lot just now) and with fresh snow on The Ben, there was an icy feel to the large drops. It was a less enthusiastic boy who returned, shaking and sore from the dirt rubbed into the grazes. But by the time the shower had revived him, I got the whole lowdown on the night and he'd really enjoyed it. He has discovered that short sleeves are not going to be the thing to wear. The other boys enjoyed it too, with Grieg scoring a try. Angus should be fine once the large egg on his head goes down. There is a big development day up in Moray at Morrison Academy on Saturday. I've volunteered to drive up as I loved going to the rugby with Finn in NZ. Unfortunately, I don't know if we will be able to replicate the quiet chats we had on those drives, nor marvel at the new landscapes. However, on a good day, it is a lovely drive to Moray and I shall just have to stick ear plugs in and ignore the noisy boys. (It is currently flooded, so it may not happen anyway). If I don't get the day off from the hotel, I will quit and find something else. As I was the only one who turned up for the housekeeping today, I think it would be in their best interests to oblige me. I worked through my lunch as I figured I would rather take a break at home than in their very unpleasant staff room.
Both your children are planning to do the Canal Bank race on sunday, the first race of the winter league. If I am not working, I will have to do it too. What a shocker that will be. Otherwise, I will just need to peer out of the bedrooms windows of the hotel.
