Raining again through the night and in the morning, but as you can see cleared beautifully for Spook to drive to Hawea and cycle to The Neck, which is the piece of land you drive over from Lake Hawea to Lake Wanaka. First picture is Lake Wanaka and the 2nd is Hawea. It was much windier than it looks.
I didn't notice any wind as I did a 10am to 5.30pm cleaning stint. Not what I am accustomed to as a part-timer so I am all cleaned out. It was really warm as one of the houses had the heat-pump on at 30degrees, so between that and the sun blasting through the windows, it was hot.
Even Sarsha's joie de vivre had dried up to a peep. We were the victims of people having too much fun and not worrying about the poor cleaners.
It's a fantastic, moonlit, starry night so Spook and I are planning a wee glass of red sitting outside. We can't get used to the silence of the quiet town, and the lack of wind, and reckon it's quieter here than in Banavie. There we can hear the aluminium smelter humming at night, cars on the A82 and there is probably more cars on the Banavie road than pass us by here in town. The noisest thing here to disturb us in the middle of night, is Finn scoring a try in his sleep. Most nights there is something that excites and amuses him in his sleep.
Spook is going to Dunedin tomorrow night to stay at Pete's. He'll get some cycling in on the way down and check out some of Pete's cycle routes with him on Friday. Then it is a boys night out on Friday to watch Southland play against Otago. Really Spook should be supporting Otago, but will be in the company of Southland boys so has borrowed his workmate Murray's Southland shirt, hat and his All Black jacket. It will be his first time to Dunedin, so he's looking forward to it.
grateful for:
left-overs for tea, and Spook having tidied up.
starry nights.
