All is quiet tonight. Most unusual that we are not all together.
After coffee this morning, Spook was dispatched to Dunedin via Naseby (not a very Maori name) with bike and camera and told not to come back without lot's of good photo's. He has heard that there is good biking to be had there. It was a lovely day, with a wee frost to start.
Meg went straight to yoga and Shannon brought her back at 5.15pm. Finn hasn't come home yet. He went straight to Sam's house and when Meg and I went to retrieve him, their baby-sitter (also called Sam, but 19 and female) invited them both to stay for tea. Shannon asked if I could give baby-sitting Sam a lift home at 7.30pm and I said I would sit for them until they got home. When I got back from taking Sam home, Meg informed me that she was now the baby-sitter and I could come back and get her about 9.30pm. Shannon and the children are going to Christchurch for what she calls 'a bit of GRIT'. Steve works there 3 days a week and now he is home, she is going for the weekend. As lovely as Wanaka is, there is a need to get out, every now and then. They are from New York, after all!!! All the children are feeling it a bit, and whilst Christchurch may not be New York, it does have Borders, and Starbucks within. (Jings, we've got that in Inverness!) Shannon reckons that ought to do it. Steve will stay home to soak up the mountain air, and look after the dog.
So Spook is getting his city time now. Hope he made it - I haven't heard. Doubt if it will Borders or Starbucks that he will be seeking.
grateful for:
that nice feeling of everyone out and happily occupied and total peace in the night time house. I'm ok with that!
the opportunity to watch another episode of M*A*S*H with no child to moan about it.
